Just watched a episode of the miniature wife and I think it is a ripoff of the incredible shining woman .
When will Hollywood just leave the '80s music and movies alone The originals are always the best . 💯

The Incredible Shrinking Woman was itself created because of a movie and book from the 1950s. This is how art has always worked. People take stuff and make new things from it

I'm pretty sure the creator credited that short story as inspiration.

The Incredible Shrinking Woman (1981) was a rip off of The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957). Based off a novel that came out the previous year called "The Shrinking Man"

I don't think ''ripping off'' is the correct term here. In Hollywood and TV they've been taking inspirasion and reusing tropes and motifs since the beginning of the industry.

New ideas are risky and the companies running the studios want to minimize risk.

totally this, plus studios know that nostalgia sells like crazy right now. they'd rather bank on something people already have emotional attachment to than gamble in completely new concept that might flop.

Hollywood has been a cycle of remakes and readaptations for decades now. Hell The Incredible Shrinking Woman from the 80s isn’t even the original of that story.

Coming up with good IP is hard. Churning out IP slop to a fanbase is easy and the piggies eat it up.
