Why isn't there any modern day adaptation for Mahabharata??

Posted by Stunning_Studio_3715

Mahabharata is probably the best peice of text to come out of India. It is a epic the exceeds even stories like "A song of Ice and Fire". Everyday u wake up to see a new ramayana movie has been announced but no one seems interested in making a series on mahabharata. What is the reason for this, r producers afraid of the high budget, are directors afraid of an Adipurush 2.0, are actors afraid bcz of the long term commitment or is it something else

It needs to be at least a couple of movies or seasons of a tv show for it to work, imo. But, when it does (there will be an adaptation in the future), it HAS TO BE PEAK.

Its been done successfully already. It’s a major undertaking, it’s a saga! Netflix is probably the only one in a position to do it again for an international audience. Might happen!

Mahabharata is basically 10 prestige dramas smushed together, with politics, theology and fandom wars built‑in. Budget + religious sensitivities = landmine. Honestly, a grounded, limited “Draupadi’s POV” series might be the safest start.

No one is capable to do it right now, only hope is SS Rajamouli he even said, I need more experience to do it. Whoever try to do it will fail miserably. Better they shouldn't milk it. Leave epic alone.
