I definitely thought that was a one and done and he'd just pop up somewhere else for sure. I enjoyed this way more than I thought I would since I've never cared about Wonder Man as a comic fan but this was a really fun show.

I can’t believe it, especially after all the talk about its ratings.
Super fun show, people should watch it. Each episode is only 30 or so minutes and there are only like 8 of them, it goes down smoothly.
There are moments too when Yahya just can’t help but put on his acting shoes, he’s just awesome, and obviously Ben Kingsley as a great counterpart.

eh, I really wish they would tackle another character instead, considering there is a limit on how many Marvel shows they put out at a time.
I know people like the fact that it "wasn't" a superhero show, but this show could have been exactly the same without the Marvel IP. As a superhero/comics fan, I like seeing superhero stuff, as long as they make it good(Loki, Wanda/Agatha, Daredevil, etc..)

I think some people would disagree, but I think Marvel’s scattershot strategy with its Disney+ shows is evidence Feige doesn’t have the Midas touch he used to. They filmed Wonder Man and Ironheart, delayed for years, then dumped both on streaming when they couldn’t hold onto them any longer. Just the fact that Marvel somehow didn’t see the quality in Wonder Man is proof enough that they’ve lost direction.
18
HunterOfGremlinsMar 24, 2026
+1
I just think since Iger came back they've slowed down on producing MCU Disney+ stuff and honestly I don't think Feige wants to make any of them, at least not big budget ones that heavily crossover with the films anyway, the only ones left that are getting multiple seasons are Wonder Man & Daredevil, both street level stories that don't cost a ton to make and have very minimal crossover with the main MCU stuff and the only upcoming MCU Disney+ show is Vision Quest which is just carrying on the WandaVision & Agatha All Along story which has almost nothing to do with the films anymore and probably didn't cost that much to make.
I don't think we'll be seeing shows like Falcon & Winter Soldier, Hawkeye or Loki anymore.

Not sure how exactly her life experiences are relevant? She's almost 30. You say it as if she was barely 18 filming those and like we're so far removed from her first appearance. She couldve been married with a kid on the way when they released and it'd be perfectly normal. Those are also both things that could happen within a 1 year timespan. It's been less than 3 years since her last major MCU appearance and she's also been in What if & Zombies since then.

Yeah. Her only theatrical appearance in the MCU (meaning that's the only place many people have ever seen her) and the scene that will likely explain how she ends up wherever we see her next (like with Kamala/the young avengers). I would consider that a major appearance regardless of being a cameo. It literally introduced her to the greater MCU outside of a relatively stand-alone show.

I think it's in contention for best Marvel show in the post Endgame era. Shows like this, Andor, and Peacemaker are the types of shows that people want to see in these larger IP universes. We know the rough background of the universe, and there are some nice lore references and Easter eggs thrown in, but you don't have to see all 20+ movies and 10+ shows to enjoy the story.

I really disliked it, just wasn’t for me. I don’t like Kate Bishop, I don’t like the story they wrote around Hawkeye, and I hated the way Kingpin was used. It had me rolling my eyes and groaning constantly.
The action was soooo bad, and they upleveled Kate without her earning it IMO. Doing archery and fencing as an adolescent does not prepare you for fighting violent thugs, shooting arrows at armed moving targets during a car chase, outsmarting Kingpin, etc etc etc. They made her ridiculously skilled and composed to be Hawkeye’s buddy and it fell completely flat for me. I know others liked it, but I found it to be one of the worst Marvel series so I’m always shocked when I see it at the top of someone’s list.
7
PayneTrain181999Mar 23, 2026
+7
Okay, you’re right in that Kate training to become an archer, fencer, gymnast, and martial artist growing up would not prepare her for what she faced in this show.
And it didn’t. Yes, she’s skilled, but she is in over her head multiple times and has to be saved by Clint. That’s what he teaches her, to think and act the way a hero does rather than just running in without a plan and hoping it works out.
The Tracksuit Mafia are bumbling idiots but it’s a bunch of grown men against an athletic woman, and they have her beaten before Clint saves her at the end of episode 1. Yelena, a Black Widow, admits she’s got skill but intentionally holds back so she doesn’t hurt her. Kingpin launches her around like a sack of potatoes and she only manages to temporarily knock him down long enough to escape.
This is why Kate is a good character. She’s likeable and isn’t a complete Mary Sue, sure some things go her way sometimes but other times she needs help to get through sticky situations.

When they had their overhaul. They said tv shows would be designed as shows not 6 hr films. The miniseries format is great when used properly, Hawkeye and WandaVision are good examples of how they were doing it. But completely ruined other things, Falcon and Winter Soldier compromising Sam’s theatrical turn as Captain America.
But what I loved about Wonder Man, is that it’s is just two guys running around Hollywood. And they are both inherently decent people. It’s not a redemption story. It’s two people who needed each other more than the other realised. I hope that carries through.

I think audiences are primed to expect a lower budget and smaller stakes on television. Make TV into a movie-level spectacle with your IP and it dilutes the moviegoing experience.
Wonder Man and Daredevil were hits since they didn't compromise storytelling in a way that felt right for TV.

You can keep the low stakes of his show going even if he shows up in Secret Wars, the two things don't *have* to influence each other. Its the second to be renewed. *Born Again* was originally one 18-episode season which was split in two, but they renewed it for season 3 after season 1 debuted.

>And the first to actually be renewed, since Loki was ordered for two seasons from the get-go
Born Again it's actually the first. It uses the Netflix characters but it's considered a new show with a new numbering. The initial order was for one season with 18 episodes which became two seasons of 9. Then in September, it was renewed for a 3rd season.

I feel Wandavision/Agatha/VisionQuest deserves at least a honorable mention. Not a exactly one show renewed for multiple seasons, but it is defacto a trilogy.

Throw the young avengers with them mix it together and have Ben Kingsley almost be like a live in person at their base that would be a FUN show.

Kinda..but almost like the he constantly lies, but has little nuggets of truth, and since all the young heroes clearly have social anxiety issues or basically don’t know how to have a good time he becomes like the fun uncle.

Exactly what I want too.
Wonder Man (LA based)
Kate Bishop (she’s in the WCA in the comics)
War Machine
She Hulk (LA based)
Shang Chi and Ant-Man are both in San Francisco.

They are both shows about anxious outsiders with superpowers, who constantly put a lid on their emotions in fear that they’ll lose control.
And they both have older best friends who are actively lying to them, yet are also sincerely helping them open up as people

I honestly think this was the best Marvel TV shows they’ve done.
Originally it was WandaVision for me but it didn’t really stick the landing.
But this small, intimate series about friendship was so nice to watch. Gave me Knight of The Seven… vibes in the sense of I really rooted for the two main characters.
As a side note it’s also interesting how DoDC is showing the side of Govt that is corrupt and telling those low level villain stories.

Ben Kingsley in a Marvel show is such a random casting choice but honestly it's working, the guy can make anything entertaining. I wondr to see where they take this in season 2 since the first one flew under a lot of people's radar

I just love tracking his character's arc through the MCU. Dude went from classic drug-addled actor to domestic terrorist to court jester to acting coach. What a great story for a fun character

TheGreatMalaganMar 23, 2026

Don't forget that bit in the "Hail to the King" short where Trevor was basically high on his own supply. They were still playing up the actor parody, but he wasn't nearly as Zen or likable as he'd be by the time he became a court jester. More of a pretentious t*** in the short

ChuckSpadina2020Mar 23, 2026

Unpopular opinion, but I thought it was very overrated. The main character is almost completely unlikable, and the pacing was all over the place. Maybe people just have very low expectations for MCU stuff these days.

VirtualPen204Mar 23, 2026

I'd be inclined to agree if the episodes weren't bite-sized. Even with a slower pacing, it felt fine because the episodes were very short. Also, Simon is supposed to be unlikeable. It's kinda his whole problem, not only do we see it constantly in the show from all the ppl who know him, it's literally talked about.

I really enjoyed Loki. But I felt like Deadpool and Wolverine basically pooped on it. Everything we saw Loki do (and sacrifice) basically meant nothing.
4
TheGreatMalaganMar 23, 2026
+2
Well, that's okay, that's kind of what the Deadpool movies are for. Deadpool movies only exists for Marvel to lampoon itself. I don't think it takes away from Loki any more than it takes away from any other Marvel projects that are the target of gags in the Deadpool movies (like desecrating Logan's grave from Logan, which was probably the best movie in the X-Men franchise)
Since the Deadpool stuff don't bleed into any of the other Marvel movies so far it doesn't really matter, but pooping on other Marvel content is kind of the niche there
2
VirtualPen204Mar 24, 2026
+1
I'd agree if it was the butt of the joke (like the Logan bit), but imo, it wasn't on purpose. It just didnt really care about it. I loved the first two Deadpool films and never felt like it was negatively affecting any other property it referenced, but DP&W is actively making the ending of Loki worse.

When netflix anime adaptations do a better job for less cost than Dinsney something is wrong... Wonderman was a mediocre show in a sea of bad shows Disney has.. The only saving grace I can think of is that wonderman was a c**** show to make, with lack of stage sets they needed to build and cgi action scenes. making this a no brainer as it was c**** to be green lit for s2.

I suspect that when a movie/tv is made about an struggling actor in Hollywood within it own industry, its get praise because they critic are that work in the same industry.

I really like this show and I love Ben Kingsley, but does anyone else think his acting in this show seems a bit off? Or is his character supposed to be so jarring? I've been confused the whole time, because it feels so weird to me, so... unrefined? Still enjoy the show, but I... wondered.
