Sure, but because of time zone differences it would have to be called "Sunday Noon Live."

We’ve got the comedy talent, for sure. Comedy sketch shows did pretty well here in the 80s and 90s. But a SNL type show is another level of expensive. I’m not sure we’d be able to justify the cost.

it actually started in the 70's with The Aunty Jack Show

Need to go back a bit further to Mavis Brampton if you want to talk about where things started on Australian TV. It was probably closer to the SNL format than Full Frontal, Comedy Company etc. And Aunty Jack was great absurdist comedy. But not much like the SNL format at all.

Mavis was never repeated so i never saw it other than a few clips. in the 80's it was D-generation on ABC then they moved to Channel 7 where they broke up and Fast Forward came and the format tired very quickly and then Full Frontal same thing happened. Comedy Company was huge in the late 80's for a season or 2 then got cancelled. none of these shows last long unlike SNL so the comedy does not work here.

Comedy still works pretty well here - even in the streaming era. It just can’t be SNL levels of expensive

Just bring back The Chaser's War on Everything. That's all you need.

What do Aussies joke about
How they have like 20 different kinds of spider that can kill you

That's what people who have never been to Australia joke about.

I've been to Australia I was there last week down in Sydney. I spent my time speaking to Australians and avoiding all the spiders that can kill me (clearly people didn't get it the first time)

I think one person was killed by a spider back in the early 70s. That's about it.
