I think one of the best blink-and-you'll miss it moments (because Troy running around in a panic is what everyone is looking at) is Annie giving the chloroformed rag a sniff and shuddering.

Not just one of my favorite scenes of the show, but one of my favorites of any show

The entire sequence when the janitor wakes up is one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

Where did she come from? And why is she holding that rag?

Troy tripping on the body on the way out 😂

Fine, I'll watch Community again

Just rewatched it again with my wife and daughter. I think on my next rewatch I'd stop after Season 4. 5 and 6 were tough to get through. Too bad because seasons 1-3 were absolute peak television.

Eh. I actually enjoy seasons 5 and 6, but I understand the people that say they don't like them

Yeah, 6 had some of the best end tags in my opinion. It was a different feel but I really enjoyed Frankie and Elroy.

I’ll argue the wedding and the rv episode are some of the better ones they’ve done.

Also when the inmate on the iPad on wheels tried to push Jeff down the stairs, I was laughing so hard I couldn't see the screen through my tears.

I didn't like either Frankie or Elroy when it first aired, but on rewatches I've ended up really liking Elroy but still don't care for Frankie. Her character seems very shoehorned in and any connection with the rest of the group just seems unearned.

Yeah, I think I understand them too. But I don't respect them!

Oh, I only just got the double meaning there.
16
xanderholland Mar 18, 2026 +11
Most titles of the episodes of this show tend to have double meaning. It's great.

wrosecrans Mar 18, 2026 +7
"Digital Exploration of Interior Design," "Basic Lupine Urology," Some people take many rewatches to catch the meaning of some of the titles because they are a little obscure.

Best subtle joke is Drew Carey, who plays the owner of the firm, gives an elaborate speech about a hole in his hand. Then later on gives an open handed handslap/handshake to Jeff Winger and you hear a hollow *pop*.

Just watched this episode a couple hours ago for the first time, f****** excellent. Tried so many times to watch Community cause everyone said it was the best show ever and I could never get into it. Finally forced myself to watch it as background a few weeks ago and finally got the appeal, now I'm trying to watch it while finally paying attention. First season still isn't great but it gets better for sure

I didn't love season one on my first go around either. It didn't grow on me until Modern Warfare. Now I love it all, but season 2 and 3 are my faves. The first half of season 2 is one of the best stretches of television I've ever seen.
15
xanderholland Mar 18, 2026 +6
Modern Warfare is where the show pivots harder into the weirdness of Greendale and how it affects the main cast. The last season does the opposite of that where Franky pretty much reigns in the weirdness to make the school an actual functional place of learning

wrosecrans Mar 18, 2026 +9
Contemporary American Poultry is really the turning point. Modern Warfare is sort of the payoff where that turn into more parody really pays off in a fully formed way.

Exactly. When an episode of a sitcom is doing deep-cut goodfellas references about fried chicken I was like "They wrote a show for me"

THElaytox Mar 18, 2026 +2
I have a hard time with Harmon in general, feel like half of what he does is some of the best TV I've ever seen and the other half is more along the lines of "why does this even exist?". Took me a while to get in to Rick and Morty too, first season of that one is super rough too. Hard to get invested into a show runner that's so inconsistent but I'm getting there

I was extremely resistant to watching it bc I have an irrational dislike of one of the cast members, but someone made me watch the Halloween party zombie episode and it made me realize what I was missing out on. I’ve binge watched the whole series numerous times at this point. Truly one of the greatest sitcoms of all time

"I have an irrational dislike of one of the cast members" Oh, Britta's in this?

Similar situation here! Tried it before but found it just annoying. Recently tried again and pushed through the first few episodes. Now I love it! I'm on season five now, just watching a couple of episodes or so per day.

I don’t even need to watch the clip. Such a good scene.

I don't care when they finally get the movie done and released, it's 100% going to be release day ticket purchase to a theater for me.

You mean purchase of subscription to Peacock?

I figured out a butterfly effect that has Jay Leno as the butterfly: In the 2009-2010 TV season, NBC tried putting Jay Leno in prime time every weeknight - it failed spectacularly. Community premiered that same season. NBC and Jay Leno screwed over Conan O'Brien for the Tonight Show and NBC moved Leno back into late night. NBC now had 5 empty hours of primetime to fill. They order extra episodes of their sitcoms, including Community, to help fill the gaps. Pretty much everything gets renewed, so even though Community wasn't doing spectacular in the ratings and might have normally been canceled, it gets a second season. It also gets renewed super early for its third season. During the second season, the Russo Brothers directed the season ending paintball sequels, one an homage to spaghetti westerns, the other an homage to Star Wars. Kevin Feige, who runs Marvel Studios, is a Community fan and after seeing those paintball episodes, is impressed with how they manage a large ensemble cast with comedy and action while staying within a tight budget. He invites the Russos to pitch for the Captain America sequel. They get the job. The Russos have a big commercial and critical hit with Captain America: The Winter Soldier. They are asked to direct the third Captain America movie, Civil War, and shortly after, two Avengers movies: Infinity War and Endgame. So Jay Leno screwing over Conan O'Brien back in 2009/2010 led to the most fun experience I've ever had in a movie theater nearly a decade later.

It’s so much harder to pull this move in the era of Zoom meetings. Nostalgia…
