You get just one scene to convince others who haven’t seen it to watch a favorite show of yours…

Posted by TheWor1dsFinest

“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” I’m going with the restaurant scene with Dennis and Dee finding out about their real dad. It was the first thing I ever saw of the show, I thought it was hysterical, and I knew I had to see more after watching it. The Magicians - Season 3 Episode 5. Two of the main characters have to solve a puzzle to obtain a magical key. They end up spending a lifetime together solving the puzzle. It perfectly captures what makes The Magicians special. [https://youtu.be/4ZrFJIq3W3k?si=5ezeBjhBEJN6YW1m](https://youtu.be/4ZrFJIq3W3k?si=5ezeBjhBEJN6YW1m)

Also, the scene in the forest where Elliot and Margo need to talk in secret due to >!Margo's eye being jinxed by someone they thought they could trust!< so they just speak in pop culture references that the enemy not understanding them.

This is going to sound like a cop out, or too boring.... But my show is 'Letterkenny' And my scene is the opening of the pilot episode, where Wayne, Dary, and Squirrelly Dan are playing catch and talking about.... stuff...

"I see the muscle shirt came today, muscles comin' tomorrow?" is usually the line that gets people when I recommend it to them.

Steak Dinner scene is the one I’ve seen spread the most to get people interested.

Funny enough the scene that got me to watch was them doing all the wrestling puns since I’m a huge wrestling fan.

Christopher’s intervention in the Sopranos. Absolute comic gold and nails everything that’s great about The Sopranos. “I said my piece, Chrissy.”

I was convinced of watching Archer in one of those threads with this [scene](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNYMQpcqscA) The density of jokes is incredible in the whole show and this scene perfectly demonstrates it

The “F***” scene from The Wire is an all timer. One word of dialogue repeated in every possible cadence and inflection to not only convey an entire series of events, but also show off the intelligence and skill of the two detectives involved. Its a perfect scene.

I’d do the McNulty bender to end all benders montage and afterwards look at the person I showed it to and say “He’s the ‘good police’ of this show”

Genuine laugh out loud over here… he’s the best murder police you could hope to find in all of Baltimore, and a total dumpster fire because of it.

He's an addict. The moment he was away from Homicide and was a beat cop, he was much better. Then came the spiral after Bodie and he went back to his old ways and took it a step further.

The very first scene with the ballad of Snot Boogie. That is the scene that either hooks you or it doesn't.

Not my favorite show but the Parks and Rec scene at the red carpet in the ice rink is perfection.

It’s hard to convince people who haven’t seen BoJack Horseman that it’s actually an incredible show, but if I had to try it would probably be from The Telescope(episode 8) where BoJack tries to make amends with his old best friend he screwed over, and is promptly told he’s not forgiven and to get the f*** out of his house. The first half of season 1 seems like the show is going to just be a goofy Family Guy-inspired cartoon, but that episode/scene immediately lets you know it’s going to be heavier than that.

Miracow Mar 24, 2026 +5
Just rewatched the scene, now I wanna rewatch Bojack even tho I couldn't even finish it the first place lol cuz it made me have panic attacks lol. The way this scene ends with a cheesy 90s sitcom guitar riff is such a chef's kiss

How far did you get in the series? I completely understand why you would feel that way and have trouble finishing it but it’s so damn good. I’d highly encourage you to revisit. Hope you’re in a better place than you were when you were watching the show before.

I’m also a huge fan of that show and I would have a really hard time answering OPs question. That episode is great but I feel like the scene you point out is really hard to fully digest without the context of at least the rest of the entire episode. Like I’m not sure of any one scene that fully captures the essence of the show when viewed out of context

Shoresy: Season 3, Episode 6. The scene is Shoresy going around the locker room before the final period to speak to his teammates and motivate them. And as a bonus, the scene once the game is over and Shoresy is on his way back to the locker room.

coinblock Mar 24, 2026 +3
Man I love Shoresy. That shows got way more heart and soul than it has any business having. Plus the soundtrack is filled with bangers.

“Oldest Bag” is one of my favorite cold opens that involves most of the cast, so I’ll go with that one over Amy being late for work or not knowing if it is Scully’s wife or dog https://youtu.be/ujAo9Bvv8sI?si=BjSzOhJqsUAj0JG7

I totally agree! Regardless of where the show went in later seasons, I still think it's the best opening to a TV show ever!

No that had opposite effect for me. I broke out laughing at it and turned it off. Never watched another episode again.

f*** mine also involves kaitlin olson because the mick is the show i'm always trying to get people to watch but it's so impossible to pick a scene. it lowkey might just be [this](https://youtu.be/veFr-Li8pnA?si=idyqnLotBW_n9eht), there are harder-hitting scenes but it cracks me up every time.

Nice. That is one of the milder scenes! The gangs are such horrible people.

Spartacus s1e4 The Pits "WHO WILL *FACE* ME?"

TheWor1dsFinest Mar 24, 2026
Spartacus is one of the hardest shows to get someone into. It is…”rough” those first couple episodes. But IYKYK that it just gets better and better as that first season goes on and has you hooked by the end. And Gods of the Arena?!? Don’t even get me started on that masterpiece. But it is a VERY tough sell convincing anyone to watch beyond the first two or three episodes. They are understandably off-putting in many ways.

Oh my god. I’ve seen a couple episodes of It’s Always Sunny and thought it was funny as hell. I think I’ll finally give it a watch.

Picard's questioning of Bruce Maddox from Measure of a Man in Star Trek The Next Generation. https://youtu.be/kjl0Hsf1iQc Measure of a Man might be my favorite Trek episode period, but I do think this scene is a good test for if you like Trek to begin with!

Alias S2E13, the airplane fight scene that opens with AC/DC’s Back in Black. It’s so bad ass, and once I follow up by showing people the pilot, they’re usually hooked. JJ precision dropped this episode after the Super Bowl to entice new midseason viewers. It was such a cliffhanger-heavy show, it was tough to jump in blind so they basically reset the series with this episode.

From Legion, my favorite scene is the opening scene of the final episode of the second season. Here we see the only two characters from Marvel comics in the series up to this point, Legion and the Shadow King, facing off in a battle of two psychics with the battle being depicted as cartoon images of their thoughts attacking each other. I love the music and the cinematography. It’s a Noah Hawley show and it’s got Aubrey Plaza, so you know it’s going to be good. https://youtu.be/frf0HepcB7w?si=gZLHFBCuPFZGRlBw

Farscape. Not sure if it's cheating but in season 3, when the crew destroy the Command Carrier, and the chaos that ensues. Just not sure if it could be classed as one scene.

Silicon Valley: “[Mean Jerk Time](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LpRh6HQrtQ)” at Season 1, Ep 8. This is the moment the show found its footing
