I think McGinley was busy filming "Rooster" during the reboot, so now presumably they'll be able to coordinate his schedule better

Same with Judy Reyes who was busy with High Potential.

She’s another character that is badly missed. Almost as much as doctor cox. And where the hell is the janitor.

Dr. Jan Itor will return in Avengers: Doomsday.

Living it up with all that money he made being the main character in The Middle
47
wer-erldturninggggg Mar 30, 2026 +27
I think it was on Zach and Donald’s podcast that he said he prefers working in LA and doesn’t want to work elsewhere, so I think he’s pretty reluctant to head up to Vancouver long term and would prefer his very limited role on Shrinking which shoots in LA
27
Content-Gur4715 Mar 30, 2026 +9
According to the podcast “middling” he doesn’t like leaving his home, so a different country is a hard bet.
9
wildfire393 Mar 30, 2026 +6
Isn't the wife the main character in The Middle? She's the narrator and generally bookends each episode.
6
Teachhimandher Mar 31, 2026 +3
Yes, she’s the main character, but it’s pretty well an ensemble. He’s the Turk to her JD.
3
wildfire393 Mar 31, 2026 +2
Sure. Even ensemble shows have a main main character though. JD, Malcolm from Malcolm in the Middle, Ted from HIMYM, etc.
2
Sisiwakanamaru Mar 30, 2026 +74
He'll make an appearance at least for an episode in this season according to [this post.](https://www.instagram.com/reel/DU_bCjqD956/)

Damn I hadn't seen that! People had said he'd probably come back as a patient. On a 2nd watch I noticed the keyring. My 2nd guess that he may be like head of building operations seems like it could be more accurate.
21
ChiefBigTiddy Mar 31, 2026 +17
I always wanted the ending where he owns the hospital or something and he's just casually loitering around
17

Dr. Jan Itor is busy in another show
15
YourGuyK Mar 30, 2026 +20
Yeah, they replaced her with the sassy nurses who are just not the right style of comedy for Scrubs. They remind me of the sassy security guards from Med School.
20
Potential-Feline Mar 30, 2026 +72
I actually like them, and they don't replace her, they replace Laverne.
72
Big_Bookkeeper1678 Mar 30, 2026 +22
This. And they do it well.
22
Rektw Mar 30, 2026 +11
Memory a little fuzzy but her character passed away in the original series right?
11
kf97mopa Mar 30, 2026 +19
Yes, but then the actress came back as Laverneagain.
19
TrackXII Mar 31, 2026 +8
I really disliked how that undercut any and all of the emotional impact of the character dying.
8
GnarlyBear Mar 31, 2026 +5
Because they thought the show was cancelled/done and wanted to give her a send off (although I'm not sure being in a coma is a great way to do that).
5
clydefrog811 Mar 30, 2026 +7
They need her character for interactions with Turk
7
ImGonnaImagineSummit Mar 30, 2026 +10
She makes their bromance even better when she's defeated by their true love for each other.
10
saposapot Mar 30, 2026 +4
I like them. Scrubs can’t be exactly the same as the original, they need to change things a bit and try to introduce new characters
4
caligaris_cabinet Mar 30, 2026 +3
Oh man those two just do not fit. Idk what it is but it feels like they’re trying to tell a joke and a punchline at the same time. Would be ok if it was just 1 character but 2 of them just downgrades whatever scene they’re in.
3
YourGuyK Mar 30, 2026 +3
Yeah, someone said they replaced Luverne, which makes sense, but she didn't play off a second version of herself. Well, mostly.
3
Vet_Leeber Mar 31, 2026 +3
>but she didn't play off a second version of herself Yeah, I think that's probably it, for the most part. One character filling that role is amusing, but the story can move on after they make their comment. Two characters filling that role turns it from a quick joke to a whole scene centered around them, but it's content that wasn't ever supposed to be given that much focus. Trying to think of how to put it in words, but it's kinda like instead of a character being clever, you instead have two characters telling each other how clever they could be.
3
Notgreygoddess Mar 30, 2026 +2
Last I saw him was on Shrinking.
2
TrapperJean Mar 30, 2026 +4
I like the two new nurses that are kind of picking up the slack without her, but I'm looking forward even more to all three of them having scenes together
4
Cornualonga Mar 30, 2026 +31
Neil Flynn wasn’t fully available either. So hopefully more Janitor.
31
SpicyAfrican Mar 30, 2026 +20
He’s in Shrinking, another Bill Lawrence show, for a few episodes,’ so I’m sure he’ll show up eventually. I hope next season has more episodes.
20
wer-erldturninggggg Mar 30, 2026 +8
Neil Flynn massively prefers working in LA so I think that was factor. He’d rather do a handful of scenes on a show in LA than a big gig in Vancouver
8
Guildenpants Mar 31, 2026 +3
Goddammit scrubs is in Vancouver too? I really hope the people trying to move shows back to LA continue to gain traction. Scrubs was a c**** to make local show when it aired why the f*** is it filming out of country to save money?
3
Slade_Riprock Mar 30, 2026 +22
I think it would be been hilarious for Janitor to be a med student when he came back. And the whole Schtick is JD not believing that Janitor is a real med student.
22
Quixotic_Seal Mar 30, 2026 +5
I really want to see Dr Jan Itor. Carla and him being absent are the two big holes that feel like they need to be filled in(high five 🖐️).
5
Brock_Hard_Canuck Mar 30, 2026 +18
I would love if Season 11 Dr Cox was basically Med School season Dr Kelso. Like how we got to see a "different side" of Kelso when he was "off the clock" in Med School season, and just casually hanging around after his retirement.
18
wer-erldturninggggg Mar 30, 2026 +15
I think they’ll write him as being bored with being retired, and he’ll accept a job as a doctor, making JD his boss and flipping the dynamic.
15
broadsword_1 Mar 31, 2026 +3
I'm hoping that's the route they go - Cox's role in the show needs to be 'that guy' in the roster the interns see to aim for. The character of Dr Park might be that role as well, but we've only really seen him for an episode purely as the foil for JD.
3
MasterLawlzReborn Mar 31, 2026 +10
Kelso was retired and just hanging out during the original show’s run

ArbysLunch Mar 31, 2026 +10

Kelso smiling as soon as he takes the first step outside the hospital, using a dead patients insurance on someone that didn't have any humanize him
6
GryphonHall Mar 30, 2026 +21
I really hadn’t see him since Scrubs so it was shocking to see how much he’s aged in Rooster. He’s still great. He might be my favorite character in Rooster.
21
National_Spirit2801 Mar 30, 2026 +23
If you like John C. McGinley, Stan Against Evil is incredible and it didn’t get enough publicity.
23
MonkeyIslandThreep Mar 31, 2026 +2
I liked him in Ground Floor.
2
Quixotic_Seal Mar 30, 2026 +10
He’s basically just Dr Cox as the president of a university. Which to be fair is kinda perfect.
10
MasterLawlzReborn Mar 31, 2026 +3
I think he kinda got typecast since playing Dr. Cox cause he was way different in Office Space
3

Not renewing at this point, assuming everyone wants to keep going and it seems like they do, would be a huge mistake. This reboot is really solid and I haven’t heard anyone really not enjoy it.
591
SillyAlternative420 Mar 30, 2026 +227
One of the best reboots I've seen and the pure nostalgia it brings takes me to a point in time where things... simply didn't suck. My wife pointed out how I act all gleeful when the intro song comes on.
227
jmaca90 Mar 30, 2026 +181
What’s amazing is it doesn’t even “feel” like a reboot. Feels like they literally just made a new season of Scrubs, but in 2026. The tone, the look, the writing, the acting… it all feels the same, which is kind of wild. Bill Lawrence really got it right.
181
coatimundos Mar 30, 2026 +39
Yeah it’s also not even branded as a reboot. It’s just called season 10. A me season of Scrubs after a 15 year hiatus.
39
robdrak Mar 30, 2026 +36
Depends. Many sites (IMDb for example) have it as Scrubs (2026) Season 1. Even Disney+ split into Scrubs (2001) with seasons 1-9 and Scrubs (2026) season 1. Actually the only time I see it called season 10 is when people talk about it
36
tagen Mar 30, 2026 +10
yeah hulu now calls the older show “Scrubs (2001)” and the newer show is just called scrubs
10
DarthNihilus Mar 30, 2026 +10
Where are you seeing it called season 10? It's listed as a whole new show, season 1, everywhere I've seen. They definitely could have just called it season 10 (or 9) since it's a perfect followup, but that doesn't seem to be what they did.
10
alexanderfsu Mar 31, 2026 +2
ive actually seen it posted both ways. and streaming sites redirect you from season 1 to season 10 on certain platforms.
2
joeyblow Mar 31, 2026 +3
I mean lets be honest here, these days is it really that much of a stretch for there to be 15 years between seasons of a show?
3
peon2 Mar 30, 2026 +7
Agree with the writing and acting but there's definitely a big shift in the look. It has more of a drama/prestige TV type look rather than the original Scrubs sitcom look. And that's not necessarily a criticism, just a comment.
7
ogrezilla Mar 30, 2026 +7
it got a couple of nostalgia and "we're old now" jokes out of the way right off the bat to start episode 1, and then has absolutely just moved forward as just another new season. Its great.
7
Rektw Mar 30, 2026 +5
Zach Brafff's narrating just strikes an odd nostalgia chord I didn't know was there.
5
ChickenInASuit Mar 30, 2026 +11
> Bill Lawrence really got it right. As big a fan as I am of Lawrence, shouldn't we be giving credit to Aseem Batra here? I was under the impression Lawrence was taking an advisory role for the new Scrubs stuff while he focused on Ted Lasso and Shrinking.
11
saposapot Mar 30, 2026 +3
They got it absolutely right on what a “reboot” needs to be. The kind of same show but years later, acknowledging everyone got older and are in a different stage in life. A lot of reboots just want to make it exactly the same as the old. That doesn’t work. Here they are getting the same tone while introducing new characters and massively benefiting that most main actors are back.
3
groggs42 Mar 31, 2026 +3
Yes ! It feels like Scrubs never skipped a beat to me too ! Writing, acting, story lines....just so good and enjoyable !
3
Ferbtastic Mar 30, 2026 +35
So far this and King of the Hill are the two reboots I have enjoyed as much as the originals.
35
LiveJournal Mar 30, 2026 +22
King of the Hill is probably the gold standard for post-covid reboots so far. Only negative is the replacement of Dale's voice actor, which its understandable.
22
ThatBigDanishDude Mar 30, 2026 +11
Definitely didn't like khan's replacement either, he just sounds plain wrong,
11
Plane-Tie6392 Mar 31, 2026 +4
And the character is Laotian but the new voice actor is Malaysian Chinese lol.
4
Ferbtastic Mar 30, 2026 +9
Honestly it was terrible even with the OG voice actor for the scenes he did.
9
JaesopPop Mar 30, 2026 +10
Toby Huss genuinely sounded closer to the Dale from the original series. Not a shot at Johnny Hardwick, guessing the change in his voice over time was just more than the rest of the cast.
10
Ferbtastic Mar 30, 2026 +4
I’m hoping they tried to make the new guy sound like current Johnny and next season they will let him try to sound like 30 years ago Johnny
4
istasber Mar 30, 2026 +5
King of the Hill is one of those shows I caught and enjoyed in bits and pieces but never binged. I wonder if I should jump straight into the reboot, or if I should save it until I've had a chance to really watch the original.
5
Ferbtastic Mar 30, 2026 +3
Either is a fine choice. I think the show really does a good job of building on old stuff while making a fresh new show. I think if you have basic knowledge of koth you can jump in fine
3
Plane-Tie6392 Mar 31, 2026 +3
Watch the reboot. I honestly enjoyed it more than the original.
3
boopbooppoobpoob Mar 31, 2026 +2
I was like you and watched the reboot through. It was really enjoyable with just the bits and pieces I knew of the show. And now I'm probably going to start working my way through the original from star to finish.

Someone I know described it as a warm blanket of a show, just because it's so comforting and nostalgic.
4
tk427aj Mar 30, 2026 +10
Was a great season, but they gotta change the filming it's way to distracting.
10
CRAZEDDUCKling Mar 30, 2026 +42
It absolutely feels like the same show, a genuine continuation
42
RYouNotEntertained Mar 30, 2026 +5
It’s amazing how precisely it matches the tone of the original.
5
Quixotic_Seal Mar 30, 2026 +6
Yup, even the weak episodes feel like they’re still in-line with the original run. It’s a good revival and deserves at least a second season, though regardless of what happens I’m glad that we got to follow up with these characters again.
6
danhakimi Mar 30, 2026 +2
well, close. some of the new characters feel off to me, the Todd's existence feels a little forced... but yeah, for the most part, it's still scrubs. if I turn my brain off and/or squint, I can even look past the fact that they just stole the Childrens Hospital set.
2
onikaroshi Mar 30, 2026 +47
Hell, I’ve gotten more into the reboot than the original lol
47
Tzazon Mar 30, 2026 +52
It's a bit wild how much more likeable these new interns are already than whatever the hell they were doing in the spinoff academy show
52
Quixotic_Seal Mar 30, 2026 +26
A big part is that it doesn’t feel like they’re being forced down our throats in place of the original main cast, complete with a I Can’t Believe It’s Not JD character. The resentment that caused in the audience was nearly insurmountable to overcome, the poor quality and coming immediately after a satisfying series conclusion was just a cherry on top.
26
Jimmni Mar 30, 2026 +11
It (the new cast season) likely would have been much better received if they'd positioned it as a spin-off rather than a new season. Which I suspect the showmakers intended it to be before a network exec got involved. It was never going to survive people saying "Hey where's all the cast I love?"
11
Quixotic_Seal Mar 30, 2026 +5
That is 100% how it went. It’s why the title card for the season awkwardly has “Med School” shoved into the corner as a subtitle that never actually stuck, as a compromise with Bill Lawrence who wanted it to be a proper spin-off. And yeah, it was pretty much DOA as a result.
5
Chataboutgames Mar 30, 2026 +8
I thought the interns in that were great. The show just never had a chance because the weird whiplash of "ending but not really."
8
Dan_Of_Time Mar 30, 2026 +4
> Not renewing at this point, assuming everyone wants to keep going and it seems like they do, would be a huge mistake. They've also spent all this time and money on massive sets. Braff said he expected them to just have scaled down sets or just half of a set but they recreated everything they needed from the original building properly. It would be a waste to only use it for the one season
4
PM-PicsOfYourMom Mar 30, 2026 +4
They rebuilt every sacred heart set from the ground up on a 1:1 scale. I have to imagine they have a multi season run planned.
4
Ivesx Mar 31, 2026 +2
It would have done a lot better if they had rebuilt it at 1:2 scale and made a joke about how everyone's a giant now.
2
Parker4815-2 Mar 30, 2026 +7
Its concerning that its been out for a month with great reviews but no word on another season.
7
Dan_Of_Time Mar 30, 2026 +3
It's just sort of how TV works these days, but on the plus side a sitcom has a *much* quicker turnaround from filming to release. They only started filming 5 months ago
3
alchemeron Mar 30, 2026 +7
> This reboot is really solid Outside of the British style of making shows, which are accustomed to long gaps... As far as reboots/restarts (whatever you prefer) go, **it's the best I've continuation I've ever seen**. We've seen a *lot* of them in the past bunch of years, to varying shades of mixed success. All of them feeling disconnected... except for this one. It really, actually just feels like a season 10. It's a real accomplishment.
7
trickman01 Mar 30, 2026 +3
You must have missed King of the Hill.
3
Cerveza_por_favor Mar 30, 2026 +5

5
Tibbaryllis2 Mar 30, 2026 +9
I do enjoy the reboot, but there are a couple things that are preventing me from enjoying it as much. * Dr. Park gets on my nerves in a way none of the original foils did. He’s a very poor replacement for Kelso and Janitor. Even in the early episodes/seasons, the entirety of their characters weren’t merely to be contrarian, entitled asses. * Nurse Dubois and Raymond are poor substitutes for Carla and Laverne. It feels like the writers don’t understand what made these supporting characters as interesting in the initial run. They feel very shallow and poorly written. * After seeing the way Kelso supported Cox at the end of Scrubs, his absence this season is very disappointing. I understand why he’s absent, but, IMO, they’ve handled it very poorly. Even if he wasn’t making a physical appearance every episode, they couldn’t increase his presence on other ways? * and finally, too many of the characters are the *main character*. The original run clearly had their main characters (JD and Turk, Elliot and Carla) and their supporting characters. It feels like the show is trying to make all of the interns and the original characters the main characters. Which doesn’t work with the runtime. As I said, I do enjoy it (some scrubs is better than no scrubs, and I even liked scrub college), but I’m really hoping these things change. I think season 9 did a far better job balancing the focus on the new and established characters. I think it had better pacing and the supporting antagonist characters felt like they weren’t as shallowly written.

Hank_Scorpio_ObGyn Mar 30, 2026 +14

I think they needed an antagonist to JD so they kind of half-baked one they can't fully develop in time. > Nurse Dubois and Raymond are poor substitutes for Carla and Laverne. It feels like the writers don’t understand what made these supporting characters as interesting in the initial run. They feel very shallow and poorly written. I liked them to begin with but it just feels like terrible stereotypes. The act wore off it's funny pretty quickly. > After seeing the way Kelso supported Cox at the end of Scrubs, his absence this season is very disappointing. I understand why he’s absent, but, IMO, they’ve handled it very poorly. Even back in 2021, Ken Jenkins was sounding very old and frail when he was on the podcast. He's 85 now. Don't think he's up to physical appearances.
14
Tibbaryllis2 Mar 30, 2026 +7
Agreed with all. Park and the nurses, as is, feel like they would have been fine minor characters. They remind me more of Kelso’s ass-kiss Dr. Steadman. Who was fine when he popped up once or twice a season and didn’t need to be any deeper than Kelso’s suck up. For your last comment, I mean Cox isn’t supporting JD in the way Kelso supported Cox. Not that Kelso is gone (but I’d still love to see a cameo in some form). In season 9, Cox even kind of supported Turk in that same way as Turk was coming into being chief of surgery. Like we can’t get a note, or email, or phone call, or any sort of mean spirited gag to show Cox is there in spirit? He could have torn pages out of the mean rant book JD gave him and stashed them around the hospital for JD to stumble into when he needs guidance as a new chief with zero real support?

He could have torn pages out of the mean rant book JD gave him and stashed them around the hospital for JD to stumble into when he needs guidance as a new chief with zero real support? He got a reference along these lines in the last episode at least, with JD mentioning that Cox forwards him every terrible thing Dr. Park says about JD.

Even if he wasn’t making a physical appearance every episode, they couldn’t increase his presence on other ways? He's 85 and hasn't appeared in anything since 2019. The character is also not really relevant. Cox was Chief for 15 years. Kelso is retired as hell. What's he gonna do, clown around the place he worked 15 years ago as an 85 year-old troll? The way to handle this is to have Cox and JD each individually feel an internal battle akin to the Cox-Kelso battles of the first six seasons, and to have that come out in scenes between Cox and JD, perhaps explicitly. But we just didn't have enough Cox.

mike10dude Mar 31, 2026 +2
I saw Bill Lawrence tweet something about how they might try and get him to facetime somebody on the show
2
Mattyzooks Mar 31, 2026 +2
>What's he gonna do, clown around the place he worked 15 years ago as an 85 year-old troll? The route that works as an emotional punch: Kelso is a dying patient (or just a patient). But him facetiming in to consult JD on a budget issue probably works.
2
boopbooppoobpoob Mar 31, 2026 +2

Even in the early episodes/seasons, the entirety of their characters weren’t merely to be contrarian, entitled asses I'm blaming that a bit on there not being enough 'space' in the episodes right now to build up his character into something. Nothing against the actor since he's only able to work with what he's given, but had the spot been changed over to bringing back Eliza Coupe's character as the "not afraid to hold JD to account all the time" role, it'd probably be a perfect fit.

RadarSmith Mar 30, 2026 +2
Its definitely been very positively received by viewers. The question is, as always, are there enough viewers I hope there are!
2
InnocentTailor Mar 30, 2026 +2
It’s like visiting old friends again. They haven’t missed a beat from the characters to the set. Even the new folks are great as well. They mix well with the old guard.

Ridiculous name by the way -Dr. Maddox

Most-Artichoke6184 Mar 30, 2026 +98
I am so pleasantly surprised at how good this season is. Even without Dr. Cox and Carla.

darkpaladin Mar 31, 2026 +12
Of all the reboots this one is the only one that feels like everyone picked it back up without missing a beat. It's a real testament to the chemistry all those actors have with each other.

AldousKing Mar 30, 2026 +6
I havent watched yet (currently rewatching the original series). How do they get around not having Carla?!
6
Most-Artichoke6184 Mar 30, 2026 +41
She was in the very first episode, and then she’s only referred to by Turk and Elliott and JD and others off screen.
41
yesrushgenesis2112 Mar 30, 2026 +27
She’s in the third too
27
coatimundos Mar 30, 2026 +27
She’s in half the episodes, so her absence is less noticeable.
27
Mind_Killer Mar 30, 2026 +42
I’ve noticed while watching Rooster, that other Bill Lawrence production, that Zach Braff is directing multiple episodes. So they’re definitely still working together. Makes sense they’d want to get him more involved if possible.
42
KeepStrolling Mar 30, 2026 +13
same thing for Shrinking
13
Plane-Tie6392 Mar 31, 2026 +2
Braff did an episode of Ted Lasso too and got an Emmy nom for it.
2
SoCalThrowAway7 Mar 30, 2026 +9
Wait rooster is bill Lawrence too? I have to watch it
9
pinwheelpride Mar 30, 2026 +4
It's pretty fun so far! Has to find its footing just a bit still and has too many played out college tropes, but I'm still really enjoying the characters and it seems to come together a bit more each week.
4
SoCalThrowAway7 Mar 30, 2026 +6
Sounds like a bill Lawrence show and I haven’t disliked one yet haha
6
pinwheelpride Mar 30, 2026 +5
I feel the same way!

GenGaara25 Mar 30, 2026 +37
Holding off on Doctor Cox this season was probably for the best. It gave us more time to get to know the new younger cast members, rather than that time being spent on legacy characters. And it let JD actually settle in as the most senior authority in the hospital, rather than Cox possibly undermining him to both the characters and audience. Now that this season has settled us into that new status quo, I think it is a better time to see more Cox.
37
PlaidPCAK Mar 30, 2026 +4
Yeah I think that was a lot of the issue with season 9. The med students had a lot of potential but every time I felt like it was finally clicking JD would come back or it'd be a turk / cox episode.
4
Savings_Pie_8470 Mar 30, 2026 +13
If they brought back Eliza Coupe's character I would be ecstatic too.
13
Plane-Tie6392 Mar 31, 2026 +2
Have you seen her recently? Unfortunately it looks like she's going through some stuff.
2
low-ki199999 Mar 30, 2026 +24
Because he’s sick and will need to be admitted as a patient. I know McGinley has aged but he looks way better and healthier in Rooster. They made him look especially weathered in this season I feel.
24
themysterycow Mar 30, 2026 +14
They could go that way. They could also have him come back as a consult or even just as an attending and get some drama out of JD being Cox's boss.
14
kaiken1987 Mar 30, 2026 +9
Have him sit in the coffee shop every day
9
BigFang Mar 30, 2026 +6
I havent seen Rooster but I thought he looked better in scrubs than the smallnrole he had in Brooklyn 99.
6
ozsum Mar 31, 2026 +4
I think that was to show how the job was getting to him. Like in Rooster he's the gungho dean or whatever so he looks great but in Scrubs he's the guy who's just days away from quitting.
4
HeyItsChase Mar 30, 2026 +17
ITS BEEN SO GOOD RENEW OR I RIOT!

NiceTrySuckaz Mar 30, 2026 +6
It's not cool to dangle Cox out there as bait
6
mrburns904 Mar 30, 2026 +18
Wait so it’d be Season 11 of Scrubs? Not season 2 of Scrubs (2026)?
18
whatuseisausername Mar 30, 2026 +23
It's a little confusing with how everyone talks about it. The current season could be considered season 10 if you're going by how it's talked about online and such. But if you're going by Hulu , Disney+, and IMDb it is listed as season 1 of Scrubs (2026). It's a direct continuation of the original series either way though.
23
SpicyAfrican Mar 30, 2026 +7
It’s like Daredevil. The new seasons are officially continuations but also their own show. I think in this case, Scrubs Med School being “season 9” messes up the continuity. I wish they’d officially spin that off and include the revival as the true season 9. Having said that, it’s a brutal bit of whiplash to end with Book of Love and JD’s monologue to then go into an episode >!to discover that JD and Elliott got divorced!<.
7
Quixotic_Seal Mar 30, 2026 +2
I prefer season 1 so that we can just pretend season 9 never happened.
2
NMe84 Mar 30, 2026 +6
It's season 2, either OP changed the title or the outlet did.
6
crimson777 Mar 31, 2026 +3
It’d be Season 2 officially as far as I’m aware. And as it should be. If they’re going to treat S9 as non-canon it’d be silly to say these follow S9.

dradeus9 Mar 30, 2026 +25
I love the reboot, it's been almost perfect, IMO... captured the feel of the original as well as adding updates like Vanessa Bayer as the wellness lady... only thing that was sad to me was when I initially mistook Jacob Dudman as DJ Qualls, thinking Josh from "My Student" had moved on and become a doctor... but Dudman's Asher has been pretty funny so far as well... but adding some more Perry Cox back into the formula will definitely move it a bit closer to perfect in my mind.
25
sleepytoday Mar 30, 2026 +20
I’m really curious how you got DJ Qualls and Jacob Dudman comfused!?!?
20
dradeus9 Mar 30, 2026 +2
More the opening credits (them carrying the x-ray) until they showed him in the show, guess I should have added.
2
Quixotic_Seal Mar 30, 2026 +3
I feel like in general the opportunity to better align schedules for John C McGinley, Judy Reyes, and Neil Flynn would really round things out.
3
dradeus9 Mar 30, 2026 +3
The moment Neil Flynn pops back up, I may lose my mind lol
3
Slaphappydap Mar 30, 2026 +5
I liked the way they used Ken Jennings at the end of the original show. He didn't have to be the villain anymore, so he could change it it up and be eccentric and just drop in with a funny scene and some great one liners. Would be a nice way to use McGinley without going back to the relationship the way it was. Let him flex a bit.
5
Plane-Tie6392 Mar 31, 2026 +3
Ken \*Jenkins. Jennings is the Jeopardy! guy.
3
dradeus9 Mar 30, 2026 +4
Retired Kelso had some of my favorite moments... honestly Ken Jennings does not get enough credit for being completely hilarious in general... he was so good on Scrubs and Cougartown.
4

Such a Cox tease.

I hope Cox comes back but it was very fitting how they phased him out not fitting in today’s culture

The last episode was hilarious! I really feel like this season is doing great things. I hope everyone else is on the same page. It's like we never even had season 9!
3
nikhkin Mar 30, 2026 +3
To be fair, pretty much any amount of Dr Cox would be "a lot more" than this season. Hopefully scheduling conflicts will be less of an issue.
3
kanhaaaaaaaaaaaa Mar 30, 2026 +3
Where do you think we are?

Quintstempest Mar 30, 2026 +4
That still haunts me to this day 😢

DesiredNameWasTaken Mar 30, 2026 +3
The most recent episode was strong on both the comical and emotional fronts, and easily my favorite episode of the reboot so far! If they can write like that consistently and keep characters developing in ways that make sense then I’m on board. It’s also been fun to watch the new episode and then throw on a random older episode after to compare the two
3
GagOnMacaque Mar 31, 2026 +2
Can we get better writing though?

IMDXLNC Mar 30, 2026 +2
You'd think it'd be a direct quote from Dr Cox's actor.

I love Cox!

outtokill7 Mar 30, 2026 +2
The reboot is awesome. It's more of the original run which is exactly what we wanted. Workplace comedy with some feels that punch you in the gut when you're not expecting it.
2
forkandspoon2011 Mar 30, 2026 +2
New season is great, can't remember the last time I was looking forward to a weekly release of a sitcom. I was sure they were going to kill Dr. Cox at the end of the season.

geekphreak Mar 31, 2026 +2
After 25 years since the show started, there’s a good chance he’s dead
2
MidwestTroy92 Mar 31, 2026 +2
More Cox is exactly what it needed. That show was always at its best when he was tearing into someone then hitting you with something real 5 minutes later. JD was the main character but Cox was the soul of that show
2
Remarkable-Being-301 Mar 31, 2026 +2
Definitely my favorite character on the show. Janitor was a close second.
2
RiversofJell0 Mar 31, 2026 +2
Love the show. Only new character I wasn’t a fan of was the new foe for JD. His acting just wasn’t good or funny.
2
BasenjiMaster Mar 31, 2026 +2
I hope so, having Scrubs back is so wonderful. Finally a comedy show I enjoy and look forward to watch.
2
StJeanMark Mar 31, 2026 +2
I don't know, I assume I've softened with age, but I was never a big Scrubs guy. Found it a bit cheezy I think, but I was also a chain wearing gothic hot topic tony hawk kid so not a big shocker. Sat down with the old lady at a ripe thirty-eight and I've surprisingly loved this whole new season. These things are usually shit, I actually believe this was the right thing to do. I legit laughed out loud a few times. "How old am I?" "Si..." "Si.....! She said Si...." Shit got me so hard I couldn't believe it.
2
FoXfromBeyond Mar 31, 2026 +2
You mean season 2?
2

ColdCorpseHotSecret Mar 30, 2026 +3
I’m surprised how many people are gushing about this reboot. I find it to be just ok. It’s sort of a Scrubs paint by numbers and I don’t really find the interns to be very interesting. Bill Lawrence is spread so thin these days and I feel like his absence as a writer or show runner is really obvious with this reboot. Shrinking and Ted Lasso have lost their steam, but it seems like he’s pretty hands on with Rooster and you can tell; the quality is just a bit higher than his other shows he’s executive producing on. I thought Bad Monkey, the other show he put out recently, felt rushed and was particularly disappointing even though it checks so many boxes for things I usually enjoy(down and out detective, tropical setting, Vince Vaughn, murder mystery).
3
JoXul Mar 31, 2026 +2
I still love the core group but most of the new characters are kinda bland or annoying. Like they split Laverne into 2 weaker clone characters. The interns don't have much going for them and they aren't fun to watch interact with each other.
2
Sloppykrab Mar 30, 2026 +1
Don't they mean Season 2? (This is a shot at TVDB admins)
1
Phantom_61 Mar 30, 2026 +1
Because if the viewers need anything, it’s more Cox.
1
Dylanonthedaily Mar 30, 2026 +1
That really is what's missing, its not emotionally deep enough. His character adds so much depth and makes the depression feel genuine
