The ball is always on Putin’s side. He can pick it up anytime, but if he starts kicking it, Ukraine should always kick it back.

Ironically, Putin’s best play may be to try and feed as many able bodied young men into the meat grinder to head off the inevitable revolution that occurs at the end of the war due to their economy imploding. I’m only half joking.

I assumed you were fully joking but that’s a dark truth… I might have to go and sit down

Nope. It’s a viable play considering the position he’s in

Have you met Russian women? Way more terrifying than Russian men for any leader.

Ohhhh, that's the plan. I thought it was "only" to deny Russia increased income due to increased oil exports. > According to data analyzed by ABC News, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have downed a record 7,347 Ukrainian drones during that month, while the Ukrainian Air Force reported defending against 6,462 Russian drones. Offering a ceasefire from a position of strength might make Russia consider it.

It's most likely pressure from US and EU, gas prices are getting too high and since they have no control over Iran they can pressure Ukraine

I'm sure they're being pressured, but Zelensky made the wise decision of sending the ball into Russia's court. It's on Putin now

And they first blew up important oil infrastructure. Russia might welcome this ceasefire knowing what Ukraine can currently do to their oil exports.

There have been quite a few very successful Ukrainian hits on Putin's oil infrastructure as early as yesterday in that port.

I would also like to point out that, especially when we add the highest rate of interception that Ukraine has, the fact that they're sending more drones also shows who has the cards on this game. That is easily 13% more drones sent by Ukraine just by interception claims. Add to that the difference in interception rate and it really shows who has the upper hand.

> Add to that the difference in interception rate and it really shows who has the upper hand. We don't know the interception rates. What Ukraine publishes might be a bit skewed and Russia outright lies and tells us "100%", because everything is also just falling debris. With Ukraine attacking military or at least strategic important targets the Russian job is a lot easier than Ukraine. Ukraine has to protect a lot more areas, so the AA is probably way more stretched. I can imagine Russian AA being way more concentrated. But luckily there are enough good targets and Ukraine switching the focus every few days makes it really hard to have the AA in sufficient numbers at the right location as the last months showed us. For example: A few days Moscow. Then the oil port in the north. Now the oil port in the south east (of Ukraine). They will be switching to another area soonish (or do a double tap before doing that, but they won't pound that area much longer, I assume from how Ukraine operated the last months)

With Putin being an elderly man child, he might refuse this because accepting it means that he has lost.

He wont accept any agreement because as you allude to, that would show weakness. He must continue this nightmare war stealing land, right up to the Dnieper. And so on it goes. The only other way this will stop is if it is made so uncomfortable for Russia that his own people [inner circle] turn against him.

Putin probably ought to take it, the Ukrainians have been mopping the floor on Putin's oil infrastructure as of late.
