Zelenskyy says he is ready to meet Putin in Azerbaijan
In a significant first visit to the South Caucasus since the start of Russia’s all-out war, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a statement next to President Ilham Aliyev he is ready to meet Vladimir Putin in Azerbaijan after the US-led diplomatic talks have stalled over the past weeks.

I seriously doubt Putin will take the offer given the fact that he need the war to keep his head on shoulder.

I think this is done for the optics on the Ukraine side and to ward off complaints from the US that Ukraine is being awkward to deal with. Ukraine know Putin won’t negotiate.

Either that or Zelensky believes the bargaining cards he is holding have improved as of recently and therefore worth sitting at the table.

A would pay money for that. Or showdown at noon, like in the Wild West. But Putin is not going to agree to that because the stakes are uneven. Zelensky is an elected official. Will or without him - Ukraine still going to be there. Putin on the other hand is central to Russia. Without him it will fall apart.

It's not just Putin, all world leaders get stuff just for being in positions of power. Like how they give each other medals and stuff. Unless he got his belt before he became president, I don't think its genuine.

But he’s also in his 70’s

Putin is not, however; he still has more Russian, and North Korean, toy soldiers to feed into the meat grinder, before he hints at negotiation or peace, like the selfish buffoon that he is.

The lines have barely moved in 4 years, the European Union has their trousers by the ankles and russian are still paying 70 cents for gasoline. Putin will do whatever he wants thanks to the way Germany made deals with him. Ursula Von Der Lying and Shrotter should be investigated.

Wtf?

Adept_Havelock Apr 25, 2026 +3
“The lines have barely moved in 4 years” So is that an indictment of the incompetence of the offensive force, or a soaring testament to the tenacity of the defenders? Or both?

sk0opyo1 Apr 26, 2026 -8
“The lines have barely moved in 4 years” is the result of the incompetence of both sides, Russian forces failed to advance in the same way as Ukrainian forces with latest western military equipment, technology and intelligence failed to break Russian lines And is no sign anybody can change this fact anytime soon. Both sides have big mouth but achieve nothing, is a war of attrition which might turn into a forever another cold war

Latest military equipment? They won’t even give them long range missiles or anything newer than a couperose decades old Nice try though

destroyed latest western military equipment have been paraded in Moscow, + the ones which haven't been displayed in the parade. Yea - there are military limitations, Western countries can't give anything to Ukraine, just as Russia can't use everything in Ukraine. Not all weapons are allowed In time if escalates more and more types of weapons are allowed, just like happened in past years

putin can't just travel to Azerbaijan, he would need to many diapers thinking what his air defense is doing. Don't know if you get it, this invitation is a well played insult.

As long Putin believe can win won't negotiate, this year CIA reports said Putin is still believing in victory My opinion is in \~2028 Putin might take peace-negotiations seriously, until than just empty words Negotiations for Putin means missed opportunities to achieve more and weakness

There is no point meeting with a tyrant like Putin unless it is a formal signing ceremony. The agreement has to be formalized in advance since it's going to take time to negotiate a deal. Putin wrote an essay on why Ukraine should be a part of Russia and he has wanted control over Ukrainians territory and their people. Communists and fascists rarely make deals and they rarely honor them.

Politics is a surprising thing. One dictator is considered “acceptable”: people shake his hand and even invite him to his own country to help “resolve” a conflict with another dictator. What’s especially surprising is that Zelenskyy doesn’t seem to be concerned about the allegations against Aliyev — that he helped Russia bypass sanctions and sell Russian oil disguised as his own.
