As in fabricating off-camera feuds and stuff between celebrities so they perpetually have reasons to flood the zone with news about specific celebrities they are trying to push. Thought first popped into my head with that whole “Ariana Grande homewrecking Broadway SpongeBob’s marriage”. People already pretend to be in relationships on Broadway for shows, so why not blur the line and take the “show” off-stage? Sure, let the paparazzi “catch” the two out in public. Dude can still go home to his family at the end of the day as long as they are in on the bit too. Like Penn & Teller have been together how long? And they famously don’t associate with one another outside of work. There’s no rule that says co-workers have to be friends off the clock, yet they fabricate these stupid ass narratives about two women who barely have time for themselves, let alone a social life. “Oh golly Gee Sydney, so nice to see you again. I really don't understand fabricated beef like this. Really just seems like they're trying to reignite the hate for Sweeney after the whole "Aryan" thing from a little while ago. Nobody thought that Adam and Jamie from MythBusters had a "feud"; they just didn't get on. The only reason I could see this being different is the aforementioned advertisement or the news company trying to fabricate drama because they're young women, so if they don't hang out then they're automatically "feuding".
