Hiking with depression — what gets me out the door

The hardest step is the first one. I have a rule: get dressed in hiking clothes. Usually once I am dressed I go. On days I still don't feel like it, a 20 minute neighborhood walk counts. The mental health research on time in nature and low intensity movement is compelling and my personal experience confirms it.
